I finally joined the print studio

I am now a member of the Glasgow Print Studio! Can't believe I didn't do it earlier. I was working on the Eagle press today and it was great fun. Just a shame I don't have one of those at home too! I'm so excited about starting a new project.

Solo show at Kilbirnie Library

A selection of my prints, drawings and jewellery are currently on display at Kilbirnie Library. A big thank you to Moira, Fiona and Jean for all their help in setting up the exhibition. I'm thrilled to have been given the opportunity to show my artwork in my home town.

Thanks also to Ben for the article in the local paper and magazine and for taking lots of photographs.

The West End Indoor Art Market

I've started going to the West End Indoor Art Market, I really enjoyed last month's market and was fortunate enough to sell two framed prints, one of which is going all the way to Spain with its new owner.

Dai Nippon

I'm currently designing a poster as part of the Dai Nippon exhibition in Glasgow. I've been watching some great films including Dolls by Takeshi Kitano. It's such a beautiful stylised film and I would really recommend it.

Meow

This was just a bit of fun for me really. I decided to print a little cat using the same medium as I used for my children's book. I reckon it could make a good pattern for wrapping paper.

Time to go green...

This is a design which I printed onto an ethically sourced cotton tote from naturalnursery.co.uk, I think it's really important to consider your use of plastic bags because unwanted, discarded ones really damage the environment, as do the chemicals involved in their production.  Plastic bags don't just litter our surroundings, they can injure or even kill animals that become tangled up or choked by them.  It is estimated that 1 million plastic bags are used every minute.

Why not try making your own design and get a T-shirt printing shop to print it onto a bag for you.  You can fold it up in your hand bag and make a step towards cutting down your consumption of plastic.

I'm the king of the swingers!

This illustration is from a personal project to accompany a short story called The Tiger's Bride by Angela Carter that I did while at art school.  I drew all four of the main characters but the chimpanzee was my favourite.  This was done with ink and a fine line pen.
